IRVINE : Apartment Intruder Attacks Woman
An Irvine woman was attacked Monday by a man who broke into her apartment, threatened her with a pair of scissors and demanded money, police said.
The 36-year-old woman, whose name was not released, received minor injuries during the 5:40 a.m. incident, Police Sgt. Dave Frew said.
The woman apparently awoke after hearing noises in her apartment in the 300 block of Berkeley Avenue.
When she went into another room to investigate, “the suspect confronted (her) with a pair of scissors and forced her back into the bedroom,” Frew said.
The suspect demanded money and fled, Frew said. The sergeant was uncertain whether the suspect got away with any money.
