Gilbert M. Jordan, 50; His Firm Places Tenants in Office Buildings

Gilbert M. Jordan, founder of a unique firm that places tenants into office buildings, died Monday at his Los Angeles home of cancer. He was 50.

He founded Jordan Associates in 1985 after serving as senior vice president of the management division of Cushman Realty Corp. There he coordinated the mammoth Manhattan Consolidation Project in New York City, which had a lease value of more than $7 billion.

With his own company he specialized in owner-tenant representation services for such clients as Carnation Co., Transamerica Insurance, Walt Disney, Pillsbury and many others. In addition to assisting in negotiations, he oversaw the selection of interior designers, contractors and others.

Born in Boston, Jordan moved to California in the 1960s. Earlier he had been a principal of an interior architectural and design firm.

Survivors include his mother, Lorraine M. Tornabene of Boston, and a sister, Michele Wygant of Santa Barbara. A memorial fund has been established in his name at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles.
