National Education Corp.: The nation’s largest technical training company reported a second-quarter loss of $6.4 million, compared to a loss of $1.5 million in the like period of 1989. Revenue declined 9% to $88 million. The current results included a one-time charge of $154,000 related to severance payments and benefits claimed by the Irvine firm’s former chairman. Last year’s results included a one-time charge of $4 million related to the conversion to a new management information system.
