After producing albums by George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Randy Newman and the Traveling Wilburys, Jeff Lynne says he’s ready for a break.

“A lot of people have been asking me to produce their records,” Lynne said in a recent interview. “I had to say no to all of them for the moment. I haven’t really had a break for a couple of years.”

Lynne, who established himself in the 1970s as leader of the Electric Light Orchestra, has also released a solo album, “Armchair Theatre,” and is working on a second Wilburys record, scheduled for release in the fall.

“I think working with all these other people has helped me a lot,” Lynne said of “Armchair Theatre.” “I feel much better about my voice. I left it dry and simple. Before, I would have covered it with echo and tried to hide behind that.”

The first Wilburys’ album included Lynne, Harrison, Petty, Bob Dylan and Orbison, who died shortly after the record’s release. The new album will feature the four remaining members.
