Pauline Evans Love; Retired Teacher

Pauline Evans Love, who was a kindergarten teacher for 20 years on Edwards Air Force Base, has died in Lancaster. She was 74.

A longtime resident of Lancaster, Mrs. Love died Friday of a lengthy illness, said her daughter-in-law, Brenda Love.

A native of Reform, Ala., Mrs. Love taught students in Japan, Puerto Rico, Washington state, Colorado and Hawaii before moving to the Antelope Valley. She taught kindergarten at an elementary school on Edwards Air Force Base for 20 years until her retirement in 1983.

Mrs. Love also volunteered at the Antelope Valley Senior Center in Lancaster during the mid-1980s and was a member of the Happy Singers and played in the Town and Country Band at the center.

She is survived by a son, John Love of Livermore, Calif.; and two granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held today at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Lancaster at 918 W. Avenue J. Halley-Olsen Funeral Chapel in Lancaster handled the arrangements. Donations can be made in Mrs. Love’s name to the Pauline Love Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Jenny Dudley or Betty Platero, 44143 Planet Circle, Lancaster, 93536.
