P.M. BRIEFING : Ford Offers 4-Year Loan at 4.8%

DEARBORN, Mich. —
Ford Motor Co. said today it will offer four-year loans at 4.8% on selected car lines and $1,000 cash rebates on others.
The low-financing rate and rebate program runs through Sept. 26, the official introduction of Ford’s 1991 models. The 1991 Escort and the Ford Explorer are already in showrooms and are exempt from the incentive program.
Ford will offer the 48-month financing at 4.8% through Ford Motor Credit. Vehicles eligible for the rate are the Ford Taurus and Thunderbird and the Lincoln Mercury-built Sable and Cougar. Most other 48-month interest rates through Ford Credit are 7.9%.
