OPEC Session Urged: Venezuelan President Carlos Andres Perez said Venezuela and Saudi Arabia are pushing for an urgent meeting of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries to discuss whether to increase production following the international embargo on crude oil from Iraq and occupied Kuwait. “(Saudi Arabia’s) King Fahd and Venezuela have agreed on the need to push for a meeting of OPEC nations at the earliest possible date to study the situation and the suitability of increasing production to prevent dangerous drops in the oil inventories of industrialized nations,” Perez said.
