SIDELINES : Norwegian Sets Shooting Record

MOSCOW — Harold Stenvaag of Norway set a world record with a perfect 600 points in the 300-meter free rifle (60 shots, prone) at the World Shooting Championships today.
Soviet shooters dominated other team and individual events.
Stenvaag broke the previous record of 599 points set by Malcolm Cooper of Britain in Sweden in 1986.
Second was Norbert Sturny of Switzerland with 599 points, and third was Thomas Tamas of the United States, also at 599.
