Former Prosecutors Admit Drug Links

Two former state prosecutors pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to cocaine charges.

Richard Guida, who headed the attorney general’s criminal division until 1986, pleaded guilty to one count of cocaine distribution. The offense is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $1-million fine.

Michael Trant, who was an associate deputy attorney general, pleaded guilty to one count of cocaine possession. He could be sentenced to up to one year in prison and fined $5,000.

Both men will be sentenced at a later date.
