Merc to Trade Nikkei Futures, Options: The Chicago Mercantile Exchange said it will begin trading futures and options based on the Nikkei 225 Japanese stock index Sept. 25, making it the first American futures exchange to trade contracts based on an overseas stock index. The Chicago Board of Trade announced earlier that it would begin trading long-term Japanese government bond futures and options Sept. 27.
