Ledbetter Wins Regatta Again

Brian Ledbetter of San Diego Yacht Club won the 1990 U.S. Finn Nationals regatta on Lake Michigan near Wilmette, Ill., winning the three-day event for the fifth time in the past six years.

Ledbetter, 26, defeated the 1990 world champion in the finn class, Hank Lammens, who finished second by nine points. Lammens, of Canada, won the Finn Gold Cup in Greece in July.

Ledbetter, a San Diego native who attended Point Loma High School, was coming off a gold medal victory at the Goodwill Games in Seattle, Aug. 1-4.

Ledbetter, a Naval officer, has won the U.S. Finn Nationals in each of his last five attempts. He didn’t enter the event in 1989 because he was on duty at sea.
