THE SIDELINES : Hess Gets Pole for Michigan 200

BROOKLYN, Mich. —
Ben Hess won the poll position in qualifying for the Automobile Racing Club of America’s Michigan 200 stock-car race, to be held Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.
Hess, of Wadsworth, Ohio, toured the course at an average speed of 169.968 m.p.h. Thursday in his Chevy Lumina to edge Bob Keselowski for the top starting position.
Keselowski of Rochester Hills, Mich., averaged 169.599 m.p.h. in a Chevy Beretta.
