NAMES IN THE NEWS : Friends Mark Forbes’ Birthday
Malcolm Forbes’ family, friends, employees and 1,500 bikers celebrated his 71st birthday in style. The only thing missing from the seven-hour party Sunday was Forbes himself.
The flamboyant publisher, who enjoyed motorcycling and ballooning along with putting out Forbes magazine, died in February. The New Jersey celebration included a 50-mile bike ride with members of the Camden County Hogs, the Heavy Metal MCs of Newark and the police officers’ Blue Knights as well as Forbes’ Capitalist Tools bike club.
Elizabeth Taylor, who accompanied Forbes to his lavish 70th birthday party in Morocco last year, did not attend. But the Harley-Davidson he gave her--with a LIZ-1 plate and the logo for her Passion perfume--did.
