I. Magnin to Focus on West Coast Market: The upscale specialty retailer plans to close a store in the Chicago area to focus its resources on the West Coast where it was founded, a spokesman said. “We want to concentrate our efforts on being a West Coast, predominantly California, specialty store,” said Brent McDaneld, I. Magnin vice president for public relations. I. Magnin, a unit of R. H. Macy & Co., will close its Oakbrook Center store and has put up for sale the leases of two other Chicago area stores. Magnin, which opened its first store in San Francisco in 1888, has 23 stores in California, one in Seattle and one in Phoenix.
