For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week: * Freesia, spider lily, autumn crocus and zephyr lily bulbs are available for planting. Choose healthy and good-quality bulbs, corms or rhizomes.

* For colorful indoor plants, take cuttings from your best geraniums. Drying them a day before planting in a mixture of sand and peat moss helps them root better.

* Plant cool-season vegetables such as carrots, onions, squash, Swiss chard, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower to keep the vegetable garden going.

* Start planting winter annuals early. Try snapdragons, Iceland poppies, pansies, violas and fairy primroses.
