WHAT FAVORITES WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE AGAIN?

KDOC is bringing “St. Elsewhere” back to television (reruns start Sept. 17 and will air at weeknights at 7 and Saturdays at 9 p.m.). That program (with an ensemble cast that included, clockwise from bottom, Mark Harmon, Sagan Lewis, Stephen Furst, Denzel Washington, Ed Begley Jr., David Morse and Howie Mandel) drew an average-sized but loyal audience. What favorite shows of the past would you like to see on the air? Send responses to Tell TV Times, TV Times, Times Mirror Square, Los Angeles, Calif. 90053. Or fax them to (213) 237-7630. Letters must be signed with full name and address.

Here are responses to the Aug. 5 question: Which anchor people do you watch regularly and why?

The best news team on television is Penny Griego and Hosea Sanders on KCBS. Not only is it the most credible team, but the best-looking. The powers that be should be reminded that we live in a multiracial, multicultural society, yet judging by what is offered on TV you would hardly know it.

Take off the blinders, fellas, and let’s get with it.

Lillian Klein, Los Angeles

I am a native of Chester County, Pa., who always enjoyed watching Alan Frio of the CBS affiliate in Philadelphia. He was charismatic, believable, pleasant to listen to and I trusted his words. I was really disappointed when he left the Philadelphia market and was surprised to see him anchoring “Hard Copy” after I moved to California.

As far as I am concerned, Frio embodies the qualities an anchorperson needs to consistently be watched and thereby increase his Nielsen ratings.

Mariann E. Lewis, Irvine

I watch Jerry Dunphy regularly as I appreciate his professionalism, credibility and calmness in reporting the news.

I could never figure out who is kidding whom in relation to the news. If I want news, I still rely on the newspaper. If I want the weather, I rely on Maclovio Perez.

In fact, I wish they would give him at least 10 minutes to give the weather and pictures in more detail.

I cannot imagine paying anyone $400,000 to $1 million a year to report murder, rape, child molestation. For this price, news should be educational. I guess this is why they have CNN.

If I want to buy something, where do I look? The newspaper.

Don’t get me wrong; all of the “anchor people” do a mighty fine job--what little I watch.
