TODAY’S NEWS, TOMORROW’S TELEVISION : ‘Uncle Buck’ reunites two Honeymooners in the fall; HA! provides a new stage for community comics

SERIES

Art Carney will guest star in an upcoming episode of the new CBS sitcom “Uncle Buck,” which airs Mondays at 8 p.m. beginning this fall. It will be the first time that Audrey Meadows, who plays the grandmother on the sitcom, and Art Carney will have performed together since “The Honeymooners.”

The Emmy Award-winning team of Susan Harris, Paul Witt and Tony Thomas will create and produce a new half-hour comedy series entitled “Good and Evil” for ABC Entertainment. Since forming Witt-Thomas-Harris Productions in 1976, the trio has been responsible for “The Golden Girls,” “Empty Nest,” “Soap” and “Benson.”T

Stan Rogow, the executive producer of NBC’s critically acclaimed series “Shannon’s Deal,” has signed a long-term agreement with NBC Productions designed to bring established theatrical writers and directors to develop and produce television programs for NBC Productions. Rogow said that “Shannon’s Deal,” from filmmaker-screenwriter John Sayles, provided the prototype of the new agreement.

Prime Ticket, the regional sports network, will introduce the new series “Prime Ticket Press Box” Oct. 16 at 10 p.m. Four newscasters will serve as field reporters and anchor the show, which will concentrate on local and regional sports.

HA!, the cable TV comedy network, will provide a national forum for the best local and community access programming when its new weekly series “Access America” debuts this winter. Fred Willard will host the unpredictable series.

MINISERIES

Burt Lancaster has joined Sidney Poitier to star in “Separate But Equal,” a four-hour ABC miniseries for next spring. Poitier will portray Thurgood Marshall, who led the battle to end school segregation in the United States. Lancaster will play John W. Davis, the attorney who went up against Marshall in the historic civil rights case “Brown vs. Board of Education” before the U.”. Supreme Court.

MOVIES

Singer Jack Jones, whose vocals welcomed viewers aboard “The Love Boat” for several seasons, has recorded a new version of “Three Coins in the Fountain” to serve as the theme song for the upcoming CBS film of the same name. Loni Anderson, Stepfanie Kramer, Shanna Reed and Anthony Newly star in the film, which will be broadcast this fall.

Mimi Rogers plays a beautiful young woman whose husband, Cliff DeYoung, mysteriously disappears in “Fourth Story,” a detective drama premiering on Showtime in December. Rogers, convinced of foul play, hires private detective Mark Harmon-only to fall for him. M. Emmet Walsh, Paul Gleason and Michael Boatman co-star.

“The Court-Martial of Jackie Robinson” recently completed filming in California. The TNT movie, about the baseball legend who broke the color barrier, stars Andre Braugher as Robinson, Ruby Dee as his mother, Kasi Lemmons as his fiancee and Daniel Stern as his attorney. The movie is scheduled to premiere Oct. 15.

SPECIALS

Justin Deas and Margaret Colin, married off screen, will appear together in “The Emancipation of Lizzie Stern,” an upcoming “CBS Schoolbreak Special” that just began production. Colin also stars as a reporter with actor Ken Olin in “Good Night, Sweet Wife: A Murder in Boston,” based on the true story of Charles and Carol Stuart. That CBS movie airs Sept. 25.
