Boeing Reportedly Knew of Missile Problem: Boeing knew in 1983 that a guidance system in its nuclear-armed cruise missile could not meet requirements that it function in very cold temperatures but continued to sell the missiles to the Air Force, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported. Northrop produced the faulty guidance system and earlier this year pleaded guilty to criminal fraud charges for falsifying tests of the system. Boeing has said it did not learn of the guidance system flaws until 1987, when the Northrop problems became public.
