Judge Frederic L. Link has officially taken over the San Diego Superior Court slot to which he was elected in June, court officials announced Wednesday.

Link, 47, who had been a Municipal Court judge since 1981 but had been hearing Superior Court cases since the election, took over for Judge Ross G. Tharp, who months ago announced his intention to retire. Tharp’s retirement took effect Wednesday.

Link ran unopposed for the seat Tharp was vacating.

The term to which Link was elected was to have begun Jan. 7, 1991. Tharp’s accelerated retirement, however, prompted Gov. George Deukmejian to appoint Link to the seat Wednesday.
