WORLD : Peru 727 Ditches in Atlantic

HALIFAX, Canada —
A Peruvian Boeing 727 with 18 people aboard ditched in the northern Atlantic Ocean today about 180 miles south of Newfoundland, officials of Canada’s Transportation Safety Board said. There was no word on casualties.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported the plane, which took off from Iceland, ran low on fuel after it wandered off course. The plane was to refuel in Gander, Newfoundland, before heading to Miami.
