Wheat Set-Aside Put at 15%
Associated Press
WASHINGTON —
Agriculture Secretary Clayton K. Yeutter today announced a 15% acreage set-aside for the 1991 wheat crop. The purpose of acreage reduction is to keep surplus wheat stocks from getting too large.
Yeutter acted after the House-Senate conference committee working on the 1990 farm bill set acreage reduction for wheat at 15% this crop year as its first action toward melding the bills each body approved this summer.
