Lakewood : Mayfair Park Renovation Scaled Down to $2.7 Million

Share

A $2.7-million plan to refurbish 42-year-old Mayfair Park by next summer was approved by the Lakewood City Council at a special meeting Tuesday.

The council awarded the construction contract to P.W. Construction Inc. after asking the company to reduce its original bid of $3.1 million by scaling down the project. Buildings on the site will be replaced with a new facility that includes activity and locker rooms. But a rose garden, a new pool deck, fencing, new concrete walkways and other features were eliminated from the plans in order to cut costs.

Mayfair Park is at Clark Avenue and South Street and is a favorite of Lakewood residents because it has a swimming pool, said Nancy Hicks, the city’s finance director. The park renovation will be paid for with a combination of city and redevelopment agency funds.
