Bravo for supplying a forum for the funny, civilized, cranky voice of Joe Bell. His columns are a splendid asset to the View section.

Whether he writes about his personal life, Orange County politics, or personalities, he invariably brings a wry humor, unabashed morality blessedly free of the sectarian pomposity so frequently espoused by our civic leaders, and a rare willingness to question himself.

His columns are the first thing I turn to in View: They always introduce a healthy dose of laughter and/or charity into my day. Thanks for making that generous spirit available. Keep that Bell ringing!
