Humanities Grant Supports Talk Series About Vietnam War at Downey Library
The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded a grant to the Downey City Library for a seven-part series of discussions on “Talking About Vietnam” that began Wednesday.
The NEH determined that the public libraries are the best institutions in which to discuss the war and its ramifications. Books and tapes will be supplied.
The discussions will be held on alternate Wednesdays and led by Marshall Nunn at the library, 11121 Brookshire Ave. The next reading, “America’s Longest War: The U.S. and Vietnam 1950-1975,” by George Herring, and “Vietnam Reconsidered,” a journal article by Robert Divine, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 3.
