SHORT TAKES : Chile Lifts Ban on ‘Fiddler’

SANTIAGO, Chile —
The government today lifted a 16-year-old ban on the movie “Fiddler on the Roof,” condemned by the former military regime for its alleged Marxist content.
The new civilian government said its decree was necessary “because the nation has started a time of real implementation of the principles of democracy and freedom.”
