Brown Derby Accused of Discrimination: The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued the Brown Derby restaurant in Pasadena, alleging that it discriminated against two Hispanic men who were fired for speaking Spanish on the job. Since 1987, the Brown Derby has had an English-only rule that discriminates against employees whose primary language is not English, the federal suit alleged. The suit seeks affirmative relief for former Brown Derby employees Jose Gaona and Victor Baquiero. (Court Case No. 90-5004. Filed Sept. 19, 1990)
