WORLD IN BRIEF : CAMBODIA : Premier Agrees to Resume Peace Talks
Cambodian Premier Hun Sen agreed to resume peace talks with three guerrilla factions, according to a rebel official in Bangkok, Thailand. According to the official, the factions agreed to give the government another seat on an interim governing council decreed by the United Nations. Under the previous formula, each side would have had six seats on the council, with rebel leader prince Norodom Sihanouk as the chairman and 13th member. This would have left the government outnumbered, and Hun Sen objected. Under the new formula, each side would have seven seats. Talks are expected to resume shortly.
