Tour Talk: South African President Frederik W. de Klerk spent part of Sunday, his first day in Washington to see President Bush, at the National Gallery of Art. The visit made gallery officials nervous because they feared he would be a target for anti-apartheid protests. But the tour was noticeable only because of de Klerk’s entourage and security guards.

Revealing: A former boyfriend of Marlene Ramallo Chalmers, the new wife of Redskins football team owner Jack Kent Cooke, is offering to sell nude photographs of her taken several years ago, claims Washingtonian magazine columnist Rudy Maxa. Cooke would not comment on the item, but around-town Cooke-watchers say he’s so much in love with Chalmers that they’ve never seen him so happy.

The Creation: Two nuns from Miami Shores, Fla., seeing what pictures on T-shirts and posters have done to raise the profile of Bart Simpson, decided to do the same with St. Francis of Assisi and the Virgin Mary. Sister Kathy Hollywood said she and Sister Lorraine Hale of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary created the T-shirts to “revitalize Catholic tradition . . . .We hope in some way to balance out Bart.”

Big Win, Loss: A 37-year-old cafeteria cook who won a $3.6-million lottery died of a heart attack Monday in Boston and his sister-in-law blamed his death on the stress of being an instant millionaire. William Curry of South Boston won the Sept. 8 Megabucks drawing but “he never got to enjoy it,” Shirley Bourdon said of her brother-in-law. “All he really bought was a Dalmatian puppy for the kids. He couldn’t have afforded that before,” she said, adding he was besieged by accountants, financial advisers and other people seeking money.
