Grand Prix Bike Races Set Oct. 14

WHITTIER — Some of the country’s top professional bicycle racers will compete in the first Whittier Grand Prix at noon Oct. 14 on a 45-mile course along the streets of the city’s uptown section.
Among the 80 racers who will try to win a share of the $10,000 purse will be Kurt Stockton of Santa Barbara, the U.S. men’s open champion.
There will be seven other races in various categories, including four open to community residents. The first race will start at 7:30 a.m.
The races will benefit the Boys and Girls clubs of Whittier. There will also be a health and fitness fair. For more information, call 803-1993.
