Wallace Is Special

My compliments to CBS for its interesting special, “Mike Wallace: Then and Now” (Sept. 26). The program held my interest the entire hour and proved poignant (an interview with a healthy, happy Pat Nixon) prophetic (Malcolm X knowing he was a “dead man”); humorous (president-elect Richard Nixon claiming in 1968 that he was going to bring “respect” back to the White House.

Most important, though, is the fact that Mike Wallace has always been and continues to be a most astute interviewer. This retrospective, in my opinion, was better than any of the new programs offered by any of the networks.
