Brazilian Airline to Buy Boeing Jets: Varig S. A. will buy 26 Boeing Co. jetliners worth $2.6 billion, the Brazilian newspaper O Globo reported. The paper said it would be the largest airplane purchase made by a Latin American airline. Varig President Rubel Thomas will reportedly sign the contract today in Rio de Janeiro. The purchase is said to include 11 747-400 long-range aircraft and 15 737-300 jets.
