THE SIDELINES : Comaneci Enters Hall of Fame

NEW YORK — Nadia Comaneci was among three athletes named to the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame by the Women’s Sports Foundation today.
Joining Comaneci, the eight-time Olympic medalist, were cyclist Connie Carpenter Phinney, a gold medalist at the 1984 Games, and water skier Willa McGuirk Cook.
The foundation also named its athletes of the year.
Triathlete Paula Newby-Fraser was chosen Professional Sportswoman of the Year and pentathlete Lori Norwood was selected Amateur Sportswoman of the Year.
