Fed Express Joins Clean-Car Pilot Project: The South Coast Air Quality Management District announced that Federal Express Corp. will participate in one of the broadest comparative tests of clean-burning auto fuels to date. The firm will evaluate electricity, compressed natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, methanol, ethanol and reformulated gasoline using its Southern California fleet of delivery vans. By the end of 1991, Federal Express plans to use the fuels in 120 of its vehicles. The goal is to provide data to car manufacturers and energy companies to help them meet stringent regulations adopted by the California Air Resources Board.
