NATION : Woman Says Priest Seduced Her
A former church secretary wants $11 million from the Roman Catholic Church because a priest allegedly seduced her during counseling sessions and fathered her child.
Debbie McCorvey, 34, alleges that Fernando Noe Guzman, formerly a priest at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Galena Park, engaged in professional malpractice and deceit by inducing her to have sex.
The lawsuit claims diocese officials knew of a pattern of sexual misconduct by Guzman, knew he had sexual relations with a minor when he was assigned to a church in Navasota and knew he fathered two illegitimate children while working as a priest in Mexico.
McCorvey claims Guzman assured her their sexual relationship made them “one with God.”
McCorvey was fired from her church job in 1987, and Guzman also left the church that year.
