Homecoming Activities at LBCC to Begin With Rally

A number of activities are planned to celebrate homecoming week Monday through Saturday at Long Beach City College.

Activities will begin Monday with a rally on the Student Center lawn of the Pacific Coast Campus, 1305 E. Pacific Coast Highway. Campus organizations will present their candidates for homecoming queen through a song and dance skit. The rally will be repeated Tuesday on the College Center lawn of the Liberal Arts Campus, 4901 E. Carson St.

The candidates will be featured again at 11 a.m. Thursday, along with cheerleaders, the band and football team at a homecoming show. Inductees to the Long Beach City College Hall of Fame will be introduced at this show. The ceremony and luncheon will be held in the Gokstad, Helm and Keel Rooms of the College Center on the Liberal Arts Campus.

This year’s honorees include Sterling Clayton, attorney and former LBCC Foundation president; Audrey Langslet, president of the LBCC Foundation Child Development Associates; Clarence Smith, Long Beach city councilman from the 6th District; and Paul Rodriguez, comedian.

Floats will be constructed from noon to midnight Thursday and exhibited in a parade across Carson Street to Veterans Stadium at 10 a.m. Friday.

Saturday is homecoming day with a night football game against Mt. San Antonio College at Veterans Stadium. Pregame activities start at 7 p.m. Halftime activities will feature a performance by cheerleaders, the Ron Logan Band Reunion, and the crowning of the homecoming queen and princesses.
