NATION : Nebraska Treasurer Charged
Authorities filed two charges today against Nebraska’s state treasurer, alleging that he used a state credit card to make personal phone calls.
The charges against state Treasurer Frank Marsh, a Republican running for reelection, were theft by deception, a felony, and a misdemeanor under the statutes of the state political Accountability and Disclosure Commission, Lancaster County Atty. Mike Heavican said.
The Democratic candidates for auditor and treasurer joined forces last month to accuse Marsh of using the state phone card for personal calls. The next day, Marsh reimbursed the state $1,663 for calls he said might be in question, and authorities began an investigation.
