World IN BRIEF : LUXEMBOURG : EC Ministers Agree to End China Curbs

European Community foreign ministers, meeting in Luxembourg, agreed to lift political and economic sanctions against China, imposed after Beijing cracked down on pro-democracy demonstrators last year. Diplomats said China’s support for the Western campaign to force Iraq out of Kuwait was a key factor in the decision. However, they said a ban on arms sales and military cooperation remains.
