New Place Theatre Company, resident company at the Norris Theatre in Rolling Hills Estates, recently announced its 1991 season offerings.

“Theatre Festival 1991” will feature three plays by A. R. Gurney Jr., to be performed in repertory from March 12 to 24.

The plays will include “The Dining Room” and “The Cocktail Hour.” “Love Letters” is tentatively scheduled as the third play, said Bob Wright, producing artistic director of New Place. He added that Gurney will hold several lectures during the week his plays are being performed and will discuss the plays with the audience.

In May, Barbara Rush is scheduled to portray a turn-of-the-century feminist in “A Woman of Independent Means.”

New Place’s popular “Shakespeare on the Meadow” will return to the South Coast Botanical Gardens in July with “Comedy of Errors.”

This is the fifth season New Place has staged plays at the 450-seat capacity Norris Theatre for the Performing Arts.

Wright said tickets will cost about $25 for single events. Subscriptions to all five events, which will go on sale around Thanksgiving, will include a 10% discount.
