Skirting a Round Table Can Add Punch to Dining Room

Share

Today, many people live in small spaces, and a living room sometimes has to serve as study, dining room and even bedroom. But most modern apartments usually have a sleeping area and a dining area of some sort.

The lucky apartment dweller has a dining area that is somehow separate from the living room and can house a table and four chairs. The table might be an extension table or one that can be outfitted with an additional folding top for guests.

I am a great believer in the round table, especially when it’s skirted; it lends a casual, homey look to a living room/dining room. A colorful skirt of bright pink, red or green will add punch to the room’s decor. You can always pick up the color of the table skirt on the sofa. Coordinating pillows with table skirts will pull the room together.

When planning that cozy dining area, you can make the spot even snugger by slipcovering the dining chairs. Use a print that is coordinated with your living-room decor, and tie the skirts with big, colorful bows. Slipcovers will also bring new life to a dining-room chair set that has known service.
