Mazda’s U.S. car-making operations will continue under the direction of Masahiro Uchida, named MMUC president in March, 1990. The company said Nobuto will not be replaced as chairman.

“MMUC is now well-established under the leadership of Mr. Masahiro Uchida, and I am now turning my full attention to my duties with respect to Mazda’s worldwide purchasing activities,” Nobuto said.
