More Alaska Pipeline Inspections Scheduled: Alyeska Pipeline Service Co., which operates the 800-mile Trans-Alaska Pipeline, has boosted to 19 the number of sites it will reinspect for corrosion in light of allegations by a subcontract employee that earlier tests were performed by poorly trained workers. The new inspections will be completed by the middle of next month, Alyeska said. Meanwhile, another employee has come forward to echo accusations that subcontractor Thorpe Technical Services Inc. provided inadequate training to pipeline inspectors, charges originally raised by ex-Thorpe employee Edward W. Thompson.
