Iran, Bahrain Upgrade Ties, Urge Iraqi Pullout

MANAMA, Bahrain —
Iran and Bahrain have agreed to upgrade ties to ambassadorial level and called for an unconditional Iraqi withdrawal from Kuwait, Bahrain’s foreign minister said Thursday.
The Gulf News Agency quoted Sheik Mohammed ibn Mubarak al Khalifa as saying that the two countries also decided to set up a direct maritime link to boost trade.
Mohammed met with Iranian President Hashemi Rafsanjani during a two-day visit to Tehran.
