Artist Sues International Male: Artist Barry Kieselstein-Cord sued International Male for violation of copyright and trademark laws alleging it is selling a copy of a belt buckle the artist designed. The Los Angeles Federal Court lawsuit said the New York artist created the “Winchester buckle” and got a copyright for it in 1976. International Male of California began selling a “silver-studded belt” in its summer 1990 catalogue, which is “indistinguishable” from the Winchester Buckle, the suit said. It seeks injunctions to stop the sale of International Male’s buckles, an accounting of its profits and unspecified compensatory and punitive damages. (Case No. 90-5819. Filed Oct. 29, 1990)
