Nation IN BRIEF : NATIONWIDE : Cancer Drug May Aid More Patients

A drug used to reduce the risk of recurrences in about half of breast cancer patients may also help the other half, as well as people with other types of cancer, researchers said. A new study by Dr. Michael Pollak, an assistant professor of oncology and medicine at McGill University in Montreal, published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, found the drug, tamoxifen, apparently reduces levels of a protein that promotes the growth of cancer cells.
