WORLD IN BRIEF : CANADA : Random Drug Test Plan Withdrawn

The Canadian government withdrew a plan to submit workers in safety-sensitive transportation jobs to random drug and alcohol testing. The program was criticized as a Draconian solution to a slight problem. But workers in safety-sensitive jobs will be tested if a supervisor suspects they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
