Britain Rewarded for Aid in Noriega Probe

LONDON —
British officials on Wednesday received a $2.8-million reward from the United States for aiding a money-laundering probe linked to ousted Panamanian leader Manuel A. Noriega.
The Customs and Excise Office raided a bank headquarters in London and seized records of accounts held by Noriega, his wife and children as part of an investigation begun in 1986 into laundering of profits of South American drug cartels.
Noriega surrendered to U.S. authorities in January and is being held on drug-trafficking charges.
