In fiscal year 1989, ending in September 1918, Orange County was the seventh most popular distination for newly-arrived legal immigrants. Last year, 15,759 people came here from more than 30 countries. The majority, however, were from just fourn places: Vietnam (26%), Mexico (13%), Korea (8%) and the Philippines (7%). The 1989 total was a 12% increase from 1988, which had an 8% increase from 1987. Here’s a look at the numbers from each country last year:
