A soccer match between the national teams of the two former German states was called off today by East German soccer officials because of concerns over violence.

The Nov. 21 match in Leipzig was planned as part of festivities marking the merger of the two federations.

Fan violence in Leipzig last month resulted in one death, and riots erupted in two cities in eastern Germany after matches over the weekend.
