A former teacher at a special school for the handicapped was sentenced Friday to eight years in state prison for sexually molesting one of his students who was suffering from Down’s syndrome.
Christian S. Tuffli, 56, was convicted in September of one count of orally copulating the 18-year-old student, who is still suffering because of her experiences with Tuffli, according to court documents.
During the sentencing hearing, Superior Court Judge William H. Kennedy said, “This is abuse at one of its worst levels.”
Tuffli had taught for 19 years at Mission Beach School, one of several schools in the San Diego Unified School District attended by handicapped students.
Tuffli molested the woman in his classroom, according to testimony.
