Senior fullback Leonard Conley has been suspended indefinitely, University of Miami Coach Dennis Erickson said today.

Erickson said Conley violated team rules, but wouldn’t elaborate.

Conley will be benched Saturday against Syracuse, but Erickson didn’t indicate whether the suspension would continue after that. Miami has a regular season game the next week at San Diego State, followed by a Cotton Bowl appearance.

Conley, who led the Hurricanes in rushing in 1989, has been one of four players sharing the fullback spot this season.

He has gained 464 yards on 78 carries, or a 5.9 yard average, with six touchdowns this season.
